The Best Bread Recipe
Oh, hey!
It has been a while since I posted in this space. Suprise, surprise.
Life has been BUSY since going back to work after my fourth (and final) maternity leave. We have finally settled into a routine and things seem to have calmed down in a crazy sort of way. 🙂
I have also spent more time baking, which is something I have always loved, but not always easy to do with four kids. Especially when they want to “help”. Ha-ha.
During the pandemic, I attempted a sourdough starter but nothing came of it. So now, while everyone is making these beautiful starters, I am baking basic white bread.
I tested out a few recipes and tweaked them to come up with this.
If you love baking bread and can’t seem to master sour dough starters, this recipe is for you!
Ingredients
2 cups warm water
2 tsp active dry yeast
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup melted butter
2 tsp table salt
6 cups all purpose flour
Instructions
1. Add honey and yeast to warm water and mix gently. Allow to sit for ten minutes or until it appears “foamy”.
2. Add melted butter and salt and combine. Add flour one cup at a time, mixing with a spoon, in between additions.
3. When it becomes too difficult to mix with a spoon, use your hands. Knead for approximately ten minutes.
4. Place dough in a well oiled bowl and cover with a towel. Place in a warm place for one hour.
5. Deflate the dough by punching it and separate into two. Shape into two loaves and place into bread pans. Cover with a towel and allow to rise for another hour.
6. Bake at 360 for 35 minutes.
7. Sever warm with butter!
