My Daily Skin Care Routine

I thought I would share what my morning and evening skin care routine looks like.  Skincare is so important and being in my early thirties, I want to take care of my skin in the best way I can now. These are the years that matter!

We all have those go to products or brands that we love, and its hard to try something new after you find something you like and that works. All of the skincare products I use when I wake up and before bed are Arbonne products. I love them and it would be pretty hard to get me to switch to anything else.

My morning routine is as follows:
1. RE9 Smoothing Facial Cleanser
2. RE9 Regenerating Toner
3. RE9 Intensive Renewal Serum
4. RE9 Corrective Eye Cream
5. RE9 Advanced Lifting Contouring Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 15

The RE9 Smoothing Facial Cleanser is a pearlescent crème formula that creates a light foam to gently wash away makeup and other impurities; it also smells fantastic. I cannot express how light this cleanser is. Do you know what I mean when I say some cleansers are heavy? Like the moisture is being sucked out of your skin. That is not the case with this cleanser. Silky smooth, I love it.

I follow the cleanser with the RE9 Regenerating Toner. I can honestly say up until a few years ago I didn’t really know what the purpose of toner was. To sum it up: it helps minimize the appearance of pore size through added cleansing. I spray this three times over my face and it’s so light it feels like a gentle mist and dries very quickly.

I then use the RE9 Corrective Eye Cream which provides hydration to lock in moisture to help reduce the look of fine lines and deep wrinkles. Can anyone say bags under the eyes? I can count on two hands the number of times I have slept through the night in the past 6.5 years. Even if my kids don’t wake me up at night, I still have this internal alarm that wakes me. This cream paired with a large cup of coffee kick start my day.

Next I use the RE9 Intensive Renewal Serum.  Advanced peptides, antioxidants and essential botanicals work synergistically within this formula to hold in moisture and help enhance the look of skin smoothness and firmness. When I was first introduced to this product I was told it was like “liquid gold” and it did not disappoint!

I have recently started using the Arbonne Intelligence Genius Ultra. (This is a pricey product but there are options to purchase the products for significantly less.) The Genius Ultra gently warms at the tip while massaging the product onto the outer layers of the skin. It emits approximately 300,000 waves per second to help apply Arbonne skincare products more effectively including serums and eye creams.

It has timed settings and will shut off after one minute to help you precisely time
treatment sections. It also offers a pulse after 30 seconds if you wanted to switch sides of your face halfway through. Typically I will use it to massage the eye cream under one eye, and then switch after the 30 second pulse. I also do the same with my forehead and the serum. Three different levels of warmth can be selected allowing for customized application of Arbonne products in each area of the face. Typically I always keep it on the warmest setting for all areas of my face. It charges using a USB cable and the charge holds for several weeks.
I then finish with the RE9 Advanced Lifting Contouring Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 15. Collagen-supporting ingredients help enhance the appearance of a smoother face along with providing UVA/UVB protection. I find it to be silky smooth and it kind of smells like cinnamon hearts. Bonus! It goes on thick but it is NOT oily at all. I have an oily t-zone so I will not use anything oily on my skin.
Before bed:
1. RE9 Smoothing Facial Cleanser
2. Arbonne Intelligence Genius Nightly Resurfacing Pads & Solution
3. RE9 Advanced Night Repair Cream
IMG_1372IMG_1379
I remove my eye make up with a cleansing cloth (typically I use the Kirkland brand from Costco) and then use the RE9 Smoothing Facial Cleanser.
I follow the cleanser with the Arbonne Intelligence Genius Nightly Resurfacing Pads & Solution. It reduces the look of dark spots and fine lines and leaves skin feeling smooth and even-toned. There are 60 pads in a container so after 60 days I will wait a few months before adding it back into my nightly routine again. (During that time I will just repeat my morning skincare routine but replace the day cream with the night repair cream.)
Lastly I use a small amount of RE9 Advanced Night Repair Cream – it has an ultra-hydrating blend of botanicals, plus collagen supporting ingredients that replenish moisture and deliver essential nourishment to maximize the skin’s natural reparative cycle. This cream goes a long way so you only need a small amount. It is also very thick and again does not leave an oily feeling on your skin.
If you are interested in using any of these products, send me a quick email and I can share with you a few ways to save.

Pink Lemon Decor

For those of you who have previously followed my old blog, you may remember a post I did on a friend of mine and a new business she was starting up. For those of you who haven’t, you can read the full post here, but I will give you a little background info…

I met Amber while on mat leave with Maxton. We met through a mutual friend and would chat here and there, have play dates and see each other at kids birthday parties etc. Her second son was born shortly before Everly so our mat leaves briefly overlapped again. Fast forward a few years and we became friends. I remember going out for a girls night with her where she said she had decided to leave her full time job to stay home with her kids and pursue a hobby of hers in her spare time.

Well…let me just say…that little hobby has EXPLODED into a business. She is now a full-time Maker and her signs are so amazing. I wish I had a place for every single one of them in my home. She is so talented and you can tell how much love and passion goes into her work through every single piece she produces. Her work is modern and vintage all at the same time. I am so proud of her for the business she has built and the Mom boss she has become.

These are the pieces I have in my home and she has something perfect for every room of your home, including a separate line for kids & baby. It felt like Christmas morning as I unwrapped them!

I chose the “be brave” for Maxton’s room, and the “though she be but little she is fierce” for Everly’s.

Aren’t they lovely?!

(Side note…Keep an eye out for the upcoming transformation of this bench. I’m so excited about it!)

There are so many other signs from her collection I would love to add to my home.

You NEED to get over to her website and start shopping!

You can also purchase her signs from one of the retail locations listed on her website.

Happy shopping!

A Look Back: What to Expect Post C-Section

I recently started chatting with an amazing blogger I follow. She had been posting Instagram stories about postpartum issues she had been dealing with, and the feeling of being overwhelmed most days. Juggling her business, toddler, baby, all while dealing with everything else that comes postpartum.

I will share more about her here later and on Instagram, but for now I wanted to share with you (for those who are new to following me as a blogger), one of my favourite blog posts from my old blog.

It took a lot of strength and courage to write this post in 2014.  It was raw and I felt vulnerable and exposed the second I hit “Publish”; but, I wanted to share my experience in hopes that it might make other Moms feel like what they are/were going through was “normal”, and to know they’re not alone.

So, click here (or on the hyperlink below) and take a look at my postpartum experiences, after c-sections with Maxton and Everly.

Valentine’s Day Meringue Cookies

I have been meaning to whip up a batch of meringue cookies for a while now.  With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it seemed like the perfect opportunity. They are fairly easy to make, with very few ingredients; but, the piping can be time consuming if you’re not comfortable with it, and they are so STICKY. So. So. Sticky.

So here is what you will need:
**This makes approximately 75 cookies so you may want to half the recipe

Ingredients

1 cup egg whites
2 cups granulated sugar
1½ tsp pure vanilla extract
1-2 drops food colouring (optional)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 200°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper. Boil some water in a medium saucepan. Place a medium bowl over the simmering water. Add the egg whites and sugar.

IMG_0935

Whisk the sugar into the egg whites for approximately 4 minutes.

IMG_0939

Once it appears as though the sugar has completely dissolved in the egg whites (see picture above), add the mixture to your mixing bowl and beat on medium for 3-4 minutes.

IMG_0942.jpg

Add your vanilla extract and beat on high for 4-5 minutes or until your meringue peaks.

IMG_0943

I added half of this to a piping bag because I wanted both white and pink meringue cookies.

IMG_0948

It’s up to your what type of tip you want to use on your piping bag.

IMG_0950

I then added pink food colouring to the remaining meringue and beat the mixture for another minute, until well combined.

IMG_0951

I then added the remaining meringue to a piping bag to pipe small meringue hearts. The easiest way to pipe out hearts is to do one side at a time. They won’t all look perfect and some of mine just looked like little pink blobs. Hehe.

Place the baking pans in the oven and bake for 2 hours. When the cookies are done, turn off the oven and leave them in for an additional 10 min. Cool and serve!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Rose Gold Gifts for Her this Valentine’s

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and I thought it would be fun to throw a few ideas together for things to get for her, with a rose gold theme.

Rose gold is trending in a big way and I love it. My favourite rose gold item to date is my Kate Spade blanket which I shared with you in an earlier post.

So here are a few things I came up with that I think you will like love.

  1. I love these earrings. They are the Timeless Elegance, PANDORA Rose™ & Clear CZ stud earrings. They also come in a circular shape so it just depends on your preference, but I think both are absolutely stunning.
  2. The Fitbit Alta HR in pink rose gold is lovely. If you are looking for a heart rate and fitness tracker that looks stylish, then you will love this. The rose gold is a special edition, and is actually a little pricier than the standard colours. If you shop quickly, you will save $50 (linked below).
  3. If you are looking for a decent set of headphones and are willing to spend a fair bit of money, then you will love these. These Beats Solo 3 wireless headphones in rose gold are just so darn pretty. Long gone are the days of those clunky looking black headphones that you picture a farmer wearing while riding a lawn tractor. These are currently 20% off, so again shop now!
  4. This Michael Kors watch is stunning with its rose gold toned hardware and leather. I love that you can wear it with a pair of jeans or with your favourite little black dress. I also like the leather strap. To be honest, I haven’t owned a leather-strapped watch since I was a kid, but this one is lovely.
  5. These Steve Madden quilted slip on sneakers are adorable. They come in a variety of colours but I love this colour for Spring, and they look super comfortable.

Shop any of these items below, Valentine’s Day is almost here! (All prices below are CA)

  1. Timeless Elegance, PANDORA Rose™ & Clear CZ $110
  2. Fitbit Alta HR, Pink Rose Gold – small  $229.95 $179.95

Cupid’s Cues for Kids

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching which often means people are struggling for last minute gift ideas.

I thought it might be fun to share a couple of gift guides over the next week to help spark some inspiration in you.

When I was little, my Mom always bought my sisters and I something for Valentine’s Day. We would come downstairs in the morning and there would be a card for each of us on the kitchen table along with some chocolate and a small trinket. I always looked forward to this, even more so than the Valentine’s Day celebrations at school.

I have kept this tradition going with my kids.  You don’t need to go overboard, just a few small things to spark some excitement.

I picked up a few things for the kids on my lunch today and thought I would share them with you.

I found these adorable little burlap bags and knew they had to come home with me. They were $2.50 each, and I will definitely be reusing them in the years to come.

IMG_0706

How cute are they?

Keep it simple and don’t go crazy. I typically stick to a a couple of sweet treats, a small toy or stuffie and a book.

IMG_0708

Dollar stores are a great place to shop for Valentine’s Day. The books I picked up at Costco – but their price of books is always a great deal. I picked them up a few weeks ago and planned on saving them for Easter but Maxton’s ability to read has blown my mind lately, so I decided on Valentine’s Day instead.

Just a few things for the little sweethearts in your life.
