Pregnancy Skincare Routine

There are so many changes/adjustments women make to their daily routines during pregnancy. Whether it be adjusting the amount of caffeine consumed, replacing that glass of wine in the evening with a glass of water, right down to the moiturizer used before bed.

With my other two kids, I didn’t have to worry about the ingredients in my skincare products because I didn’t really have a skincare routine. I didn’t really get into skincare prodcuts until a few months after Everly was born. With this pregnancy, I immediately started researching all the products I was using, and whether they were safe while pregnant and nursing.

Before I found out I was pregnant I had just started using a new product that I was LOVING – and of course, knew that it was something I would have to tuck away because it contained retinol. For those who don’t know, it’s suggested products containing retinol be avoided during pregnancy, as too much Vitmain A can affect fetal development. I am by no means a doctor, and recommend discussing any products you are concerned about with your doctor.

I am sharing the skincare products I have been using in the mornings and evenings, after researching these products and discussing them with my obstetrician. I will also continue to use the same products while nursing. It will be nice to add some retinol and intense anti-aging products back into my routine when it’s safe to do so because lord knows this Mama is going to need them.

Morning Routine

Tarte SEA Deep Dive Cleansing Gel

I love this vegan gel cleanser. A little goes a long way and it’s great for combination skin.

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum

This serum is one of my favourites. It may appear oily at first but it absorbs right into my skin without an oily residue.

Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream

I love this eye cream. It leaves my under eye hydrated without feeling greasy.

Tarte Shape Tape Moisturizer

This moistuizer is new to me but I love it! It’s very lightweight and is the perfect base before make up. It also smells amazing.

Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer with Ceramides

This is my go to moisturizer during the winter months. It’s thick and perfect to hydrate dry. skin.

Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Moisturizer

This is a protein moisturizer and although it goes on a little greasy it quickly absorbs into your skin.

Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Antioxidant Face Oil

I was hesitant to try this at first because I have fairly oily skin but this is a game changer. It’s so nourishing and hydrating. I only use 1-2 drops each time and I don’t find it makes my skin more oily at all (you don’t need much).

Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops

I love this product! These drops are great to defend against environmental stressors and provide a nice summer glow. I mix a couple of pumps of this with 1-2 drops of the Marula Face Oil.

Night Routine

Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash

This cleanser is so good! You only need a very small amount and it provides such a good lather to cleanse your face from the day.

OLEHENRIKSEN Truth Serum

This was one of the only anti-aging serums with collagen I could find that was safe to use during pregnancy. It smells amazing and absorbs quickly into the skin.

OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Eye Creme

This eye cream is so refreshing at the end of the day and helps reduce the appearance of dark circles. It also smells amazing!

OLEHENRIKSEN C-Rush Vitamin C Gel Moisturizer

This moisturizer is so hydrating and refeshing at the end of the day. It also smells like a creamsicle!

LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask

This product is newer to me but I am a big fan of it so far. I use it a few times a week and it keeps my lips hydrated all night – so much so I wipe excess off in the morning.

That’s it! I would love to hear about your favourite skincare products while pregnant/nursing, or even if you’re not!
