Mini Outdoor Spring Transformation

by | May 24, 2018 | DIY, Home Decor, Motherhood, Seasonal, Style

No one was more excited than I was to pack away the winter wreaths and snow shovels and replace them with outdoor furniture and potting plants. I didn’t do a lot in my front and backyard but I did do a few things to add some personality. We live in a new build area and don’t have a fenced in yard, so patio furniture isn’t really an option right now.

For the front, I purchased all of my annuals from Costco. They are so affordable and I always love how full their baskets are. My hack for the planters is purchasing hanging baskets, cutting off the hanger, and placing them in a planter. I also like to choose the baskets with cascading flowers/vines which help to give it a fuller look.

It’s nothing extreme, but adds nice pops of colour to the front of the house. I also typically like to stay with one colour scheme for the season, when choosing flowers.

The backyard just has the standard deck the builder built last summer, so there isn’t a lot of space on it. I have enough room for the charcoal BBQ, a small table and two chairs, an herb planter, and a few other planters and knick knacks. I am hoping a fence goes up soon for privacy and so I can leave the kids toys out.

The grey seat cushion is from Barbecue World and the pillow is from Home Depot. The blush candle holder is from Home Sense and it has a battery operated candle in it. The green lantern I LOVE because it is solar powered and the light it emits when it’s dark is bright enough to light up the whole deck, and it was under $25. The lawn gnome is also from Home Depot and the kids love him! I have another one on a little swing I haven’t put out yet. Everly said she wanted to find a spot for him so we will do that this weekend.

The watering can is from Home Sense and the rug I got a few years ago at Home Sense as well. Going forward, just assume I bought everything at Home Sense! Hehe.

Again, it’s not much but it added that perfect Spring/Summer feel to our home.

I am going to share a little more about the planters and what I chose on my Instagram stories so go follow me @pinkandblueblog.
